科研写作：a number of 与 the number of
一般来讲，当谈到的东西（如 days、samples、experiments 等）个数多于 1 时，通常会使用复数动词，
例如：the days were short；the samples were dried；the experiments were repeated。
a number of 也属同一类别，之后使用复数子句，
例如：a number of days passed 或 a number of people were present。
小心不要被词句的不定冠词 a 误导，它用来表示个数多于1的东西，因此需要使用复数名词和复数动词。
the number of 的用法不同，之后接复数名词与单数动词。这是因为它指的是构成一个集或组的确切数目，强调的是精确数量，表达的不是东西数目的多或少的问题，而是确切的数目，
例如：The number of plants in each plot was 25 或 The number of participants was greater in summer than in winter。
